Programs: Scouting
After School, in cooperation with the Girl Scouts of Black Hawk Council and the Four Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts, is pleased to offer scouting at the following Dane Region After School sites during program hours:Chavez, Franklin, Thoreau, Stephens, Leopold, Shorewood, Muir, Crestwood, Van Hise, and Hawthorne Elementary Schools. (Scouting will soon be available at Leopold.)
These programs are designed to meet the needs of young girls and boys in first grade (about age 6) continuing through fifth grade (about age 11). Scouting emphasizes a family and community centered approach to learning. Participants will be guided through games, projects, ceremonies and other activities that will give them a sense of personal achievement. Your child will share in fun and challenging activities while making new friends. The programs focus on the scouting traditions of building character, developing the responsibilities of citizenship, learning new skills, and encouraging physical fitness.
The registration fee to join either scouting program is $10 per year. There are no weekly dues, and all other items for purchase are optional. Please let us know if paying the registration fee is a hardship for you at this time as fees can be waived. No child will be denied the opportunity to participate.
