Jim Wick

Bio:

Jim started working with AFTER SCHOOL in the fall of 2010 as a site supervisor.  His previous experience with youth includes working with children in the youth sports department of the YMCA.  Jim believes knowledge is power and that it's important for kids to realize the value of education.  In his free time, Jim likes to watch movies and play sports.

Summit View's Before School, AFTER SCHOOL BOOST and Club programs are held in the gym.   Playing board games, cards, Legos, Lincoln Logs, K-Nex, books and Barbie dolls are some of the children's favorite activities.  In the gym the children enjoy a great variety of art supplies for creating their own projects, and a special area to work on their homework.  Be it in the gym, or outside, children play games with balls, jump ropes and skip-its.   Summit View hosts special events for children and their families such as the fall family breakfast for before school families, and a pizza party for the after school families.   Each winter there is a holiday party including games, snacks and gifts. In May there is a family end-of-the-year picnic.  Summit View AFTER SCHOOL is a choice-based program.  We believe in offering many opportunities for kids to have fun and explore their interests.  Kid input is important too!  We encourage their suggestions for safe, appropriate activities.  We provide a welcoming atmosphere that supports friendships and builds social skills, daily homework time with adult help and outdoor play every day (weather permitting) for good health.
