Brenden Johnson

Bio: 

Branden started with AFTER SCHOOL in the fall of 2010.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication from the University of Oregon, and is preparing to return to school to complete an advanced degree in nursing.  Branden’s experience with children includes one year working as a native English teacher at a private academy in Seoul, South Korea.  Branden enjoys cooking, traveling, learning new languages and trying to get used to the crazy weather in Wisconsin.

The program at Poplar Creek is held in the old gym/cafeteria. The children enjoy seasonal crafts, cooking and putting on dramatic performances.   Construction with Legos and blocks is also popular. Outside, the children enjoy extensive playground equipment and play games with staff on several large open fields. Poplar Creek offers Before School, AFTER SCHOOL BOOST and Club programs.  Poplar Creek AFTER SCHOOL is a choice-based program.  We believe in offering many opportunities for kids to have fun and explore their interests.  Kid input is important too!  We encourage their suggestions for safe, appropriate activities.  We provide a welcoming atmosphere that supports friendships and builds social skills, daily homework time with adult help and outdoor play every day (weather permitting) for good health.
