Diane Theiste

Bio:

Diane started with AFTER SCHOOL in the fall of 2002.  Her experience working with children includes five summers with AFTER SCHOOL's summer day camp.  Before becoming the site supervisor of the Arboretum program in 2006, she supervised the Madison Country Day School AFTER SCHOOL program.   Diane enjoys camping, reading, playing with her dog, "Ginger" and spending time with family and friends.

Arboretum AFTER SCHOOL meets in the school cafeteria. One wall is floor to ceiling windows which makes for a very sunny, cheerful space.  The group has access to the gym and to a large well-equipped playground.  Children may use the climbing equipment, basketball hoops and areas for playing Four Square, soccer and kickball.  There is a small sledding hill for children to use in snowy weather.  Arboretum AFTER SCHOOL is a choice-based program.  We believe in offering many opportunities for kids to have fun and explore their interests.  Kid input is important too!  We encourage their suggestions for safe, appropriate activities.  We provide a welcoming atmosphere that supports friendships and builds social skills, daily homework time with adult help and outdoor play every day (weather permitting) for good health.  Scouting is offered at some sites based on child interest and availability of volunteers.  Many of our Dane County AFTER SCHOOL sites offer enrichment classes.
