Michael Graveen

Bio:

Michael has been with AFTER SCHOOL since Winter 2002.  He started as program staff and became a site supervisor in 2005.  Michael attended UW-Madison for secondary education in math.  His several years experience working with children include working at summer camps and as Wisconsin Youth Company's Middle School U program director.  Michael enjoys camping, being outdoors, and sharing a variety of his hobbies with kids at AFTER SCHOOL.

Leopold AFTER SCHOOL program meets in the spacious cafeteria.  Children enjoy special projects such as woodworking and candy making.  Wooden blocks, Legos and a doll house dominate the choice time activities for the younger children most days.  The club kids enjoy working on long term projects or playing a favorite game called Watermelon.  Kids have access to the gym, playground and sandbox.  Leopold AFTER SCHOOL is a choice-based program.  We believe in offering many opportunities for kids to have fun and explore their interests.  Kid input is important too!  We encourage their suggestions for safe, appropriate activities.  We provide a welcoming atmosphere that supports friendships and builds social skills, daily homework time with adult help and outdoor play every day (weather permitting) for good health.  Scouting is offered at some sites based on child interest and availability of volunteers.  Many of our Dane County AFTER SCHOOL sites offer enrichment classes.  These include World Language, art and science classes.  Click here to learn more.  Enrichment classes can be arranged at most AFTER SCHOOL sites if there is enough interest.  Email janderson@wisconsinyouthcompany.org to learn more.
