Summer Day Camp Parent FAQs

What should my child bring to camp with them each day?

      1.  A lunch and beverage that doesn’t need to be refrigerated

      2.  Sun screen.

      3.  Water bottle

      4.  Hat

      5.  Swim suit and towel. Your child’s group won’t swim every day but they              may enjoy outdoor water play (sprinkler, water balloons, buckets) if not            scheduled to go to the pool.

What days will my child go swimming?

Each camp has its own schedule.  Check with the staff at the camp your child attends to verify swim schedule.

How will parents know about field trips?

Field trip notices are posted at camps the week prior to the trip.

What are the hours of camp?

Camp is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Around camp care is available for an extra charge. In Dane County before camp care goes from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and after camp care, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.   In Waukesha County before camp care operates from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and after camp care, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Is the price for a week of camp the same even though there is no camp on July 4?

Yes.  Sorry but we don’t pro-rate for holidays that fall on camp program days.

I forgot to mail my payment and it’s not convenient for me to drop it off at the office.  Can I give it to the staff at camp?

No.  Camp staff is instructed not to accept payment from parents.  If you forgot to send it or there is a delay for some other reason please call the office (In Dane County, 608-276-9782 or in Waukesha County, 262-547-8770) and let them know.

How do you decide whether or not to have certain summer units or themes?

Summer camp is a place to meet new friends, explore new ideas, and have fun! At camps that offer more than one unit or theme for the week, generally we try to have at least 10 children enrolled per unit to maximize the experience for the children and provide for effective use of staff and resources. If a unit is cancelled we make every effort to place children in another unit held at the same time and with a similar theme.
