Beyond AFTER SCHOOL

When AFTER SCHOOL began as a non-profit with just five sites in Madison in 1974, no one realized how much it would grow. Today AFTER SCHOOL has 24 sites in Dane County and 15 in Waukesha County. It offers before school and after school care, Club activities for older children including 4-H, foreign languages, Scouting opportunities and summer day camp. It is just one division of the Wisconsin Youth Company (WYC).

Under the umbrella of WYC is a whole array of programs for families:

Celebrating Youth! This annual Madison event showcases the art, music, drama and performance talents of area youth. It gives parents the chance to learn about all the enrichment opportunities for children and youth in the region and it gives recognition to youth that are engaged in positive activities.

Generation ToursWeekend to week-long vacation trips for families from Wisconsin attractions to the natural beauty of Costa Rica, these trips bring families together for fun and learning.

Middle School U--This summer program offers enrichment and recreation opportunities to middle school youth. It recognizes their growing independence and offers the chance to try new things and develop life-long hobbies.

Wander WisconsinIt started as an AFTER SCHOOL summer camp unit and has become a year-round adventure travel camp for children eight to 12 years of age. Building friendships, learning outdoor skills and traveling to wonderful outdoor attractions are all part of the mix.

Visit all the web sites to learn more about these unique programs and learn how you and your family can go “beyond AFTER SCHOOL.”
